"Why do you keep on traveling, Kino?"

"Sometimes I wonder, am I an insignificant, irredeemable fool? Am I a horrible mess of a human being? I'm not really sure why, but there are times when I feel like I am. There are times when I think that is all I am... But it's during those times that I would find other things, like the world and other people's ways of lives, to be so beautiful and fantastic. I would think, they're so dear to me... I want to know more and more about them, and I have a feeling that I travel for that purpose."

Destination is a state of mind. A tale of a human, a two-wheeled vehicle, and the road ahead. Kino wanders around the world on the back of Hermes – an unusual, talking, anthropomorphic motorrad – only staying in each country for three days.

During their adventures, they find happiness, sadness, pain, decadence, violence, beauty, and wisdom. But through it all, they never lose their sense of freedom. They discover that because of the world’s imperfections, it is actually a thing of beauty.

“The world is not beautiful. Therefore, it is.”

  3. Hey, I didn't find any contact information in this page, so I'm gonna do this here. I plan to translate Kino No Tabi from English into German (since I don't speak Japanese), and I would like to use this translation in tandem with the official one, since it's pretty good. Are you okay with that?

  4. Hi. I came here for the same reason as Mir did. I'd like to use your translation (as well as the official one) to translate the first volume and maybe some extras of Kino no Tabi. Of course, giving you the right credits. It is ok for you?

I'd love to be able to put it on my Kindle.
